The engine no..The 1st character could be either a B..an 8..a 3..or a 6..the rest 969854 is easy to read so do your year search with either one of those 4 first.
Was used by myself in an F1 Stock Car about 8 1/2 years ago when it dropped a valve and split a cylinder liner..luckily it did it in the garage on start up and not on the track at high revs so luckily it minimised the damage..
I stripped it down and took the whole lot to renowned Chevy engine builder Ian Whitworth in Huddersfield over the winter and went to the States in the February/March (cheapest time to go) to see a friend and get the components to rebuild , which came from B & B Performance , a top race engine components supplier in Branford , Connecticut.The mail order speed shops were cheaper , but this way it was all there ready to inspect when I got there in case anything was wrong
Ian told me exactly what to get to the last nut and bolt and everything got brought back apart from the pistons which he got himself as he could get them trade direct and knew they would be right. It got built up with..
Manley stainless one piece valves with stronger than stock heavy duty springs, locks and retainers..3 angle valve job on heads with new valves ground in
Clevite77 mains and big ends standard size crank polished with New Miloden High Volume oil pump
Eagle H Beam rods with full floating Keith Black Hyperteutic pistons and rings
New liner fitted and all bored +60"
New ARP Main and Rod and Cylinder Head bolts
New Heavy Duty Billet performance timing chain and gears
Brand New Holley 830 Carburettor jet matched to engine
Manley Roller cam and lifters and roller Rocker gear
Brand New Miloden left turn sump
New MSD Distributer
Balanced and Dyno"d putting out 535 bhp.
And that was it I was going to scare everybody ! But not long after I came down with Retinal Glaucoma with eye operations and day treatments at the eye hospital to stop me going blind..Initially I did'nt want to sell anything as I would'nt be able to afford to restart again if my eyes got cured , but it ain't gonna happen and it's been sat long enough now it needs to be run
Before listing it , we checked it over as I did'nt want to list it till we knew it was still all good , so me and a friend whose been around race V8's for years and with better eyes than me came over with a bore cam and we took the sump off , the rocker covers off and had the bore-cam down all 8 cylinders..EVERYTHING IS ALL A1..The boring scores are still clearly visible on the cylinder walls with only minimal carbon on the pistons from when it run on the Dyno..As the photos show , the bottom end is all perfect and prestine and the rocker gear also spotless and all turns over nice and free..We oiled round everything while it was all off and fastened it all back up..and the photos are recent not months ago
So it's all complete and good to go and it stands me at a lot more than the asking price and I would rather be racing it after all the effort..needs to be run now..Everything described here is genuine ,nothing misguided or overstated, ,and the photos back it up..Engine is in Chadderton Oldham..Any inspection welcome..Bring your own borecam if you want to..Hagglers bring some Fish,Chips,and Pop..!
